From the lectures, reading assignments and Quiz this week there was a sense of audience grounding in the realities behind an image, picture, sculpture or even design.  The scope is potentially massive but I could sense images being used as weapons, as inducements, as repellants or as memory joggers.  Many (and some say that most) images seem to convey as much fiction as they do fact.
Not so enamoured of the quiz, it brought back memories of invigilated exam taking back when I was studying in the UK. I remember working hard, was always confident in my preparation, extensive studies and amassed subject knowledge then the timer starts and my mind simply shuts down :( As soon as the time is up, everything comes flooding back to me and I immediately realize how many of the questions I did not read properly, missed the critical question element or transposed facts and details. Argh!
Effective assignments for this week - publish ACTUAL relevant examples of supporting items from this week's objectives:

1. Understand the broad objectives of the course, and its structure;  (Write a paragraph)
2. Begin thinking about your own reactions to images in a modern and historical context; (Pick an example and write your reactions)
3. Consider more critically the images you see in the modern media. (Give examples)

Then give a CLEAR direction on what the assessment criteria are and have peer assessments on how effectively the student satisfied that assignment.
